Life isn’t always Heavenly when You’re A “Star” Lee Daniels’ has just released a new teaser for his latest TV series “Star” with Queen Latifah. Daniels’ takes us again behind the scenes of the music industry and the dark reality of what it takes to rise to fame. “Star” follows three talented singers as they try to climb the ladder of success in the cut-throat music business. Newcomers Jude Demorest landed the starring title role of “Star”–a young woman who battled to survive in the foster care system and now facing a new battle in the record industry. “Star” sets out to form a new singing group wither her sister Simone (Brittany O’Grady) and her best friend Alexandra (Ryan Destiny). Talent isn’t all it takes to make it and to give the girls the guidance they need, a surrogate mom named Carlotta (Latifah) steps in to fill the task. Benjamin Bratt stars as “Jahil” and singer Lenny Kravitz guest stars. Daniels hopes to mimic the success of his FOX TV hit “Empire” by reusing his formula of original music and real life singers to guest star. “Star” is scheduled to bring audiences a special preview in December. Denzel Pulls Double Duty on “Fences” For this film adaptation of the August Wilson play, Denzel Washington wears both the hat of actor and director. This is Oscar winner’s third time calling the shots behind the camera which he did for 2002’s “Antwone Fisher” and “The Great Debaters” in 2007. Joining Washington on camera is actress Viola Davis as the two reprise their roles as Troy and Rose Maxson in the story of a man who looks back regretfully on his life as he goes from being a baseball player to a garbage man. Davis and Washington both earned Tony Awards for their roles in the 50’s era play. “Fences” will hit theaters in a limited release on December 16 and expand nationwide on Christmas Day. A Madea Halloween” finds Madea in the middle of mayhem as she fends off ghosts, ghouls, zombies and killer clowns all while trying to keep a parental eye on a group of teens. Some familiar and new faces join the cast including Cassi Davis, Patrice Lovely and Mike Torabene. “Boo! A Madea Halloween” opens nationwide Friday, October 21.
