Lion King Fans Feeling The “Spirit” of Bey’s New Single    Nine days and counting before Disney’s remake of its children’s classic “The Lion King” hits theaters nationwide and the hype train continues to pick up steam.  Film Critics and reviewers on hand for Tuesday’s special world premiere in Hollywood are roaring about the “stunning visual effects” and the “emotional experience”  in rave reviews…

And if that doesn’t get you onboard the hype train, then how about Beyoncé’s new single promoting the film?  Bey’s “Spirit” dropped immediately following a glitzy Hollywood premiere.  Rolling Stone Magazine gushes, “Spirit” opens with resonant voices trading call and responses. Over rich piano, orchestral melodies and choir-tipped choruses, Beyoncé sings her uplifting verses about resilience. “Rise up to the light in the sky, yeah,” she sings. “Watch the light lift your heart up/Burn your flame through the night.”  Another verse of the song asks of listeners, “Spirit, can you hear it calling? / Yeah / Your destiny is coming close, stand up and fight / So go into that far off land / And be one with the great I am, I am,” The song is the first track off Beyonce’s upcoming album, “The Lion King: The Gift”.  The album was reportedly,  “…produced and curated by  Beyoncé.” The film stars Beyoncé as  Nala, Donald Glover as Simba and James Earl Jones reprising his timeless performance as the mighty Mufasa. “The Lion King” hits theaters July 19, but you can be transported to the Mother Land now as you listen to Beyoncé’s “Spirit”…

Whitney Topping Charts Again With “Higher Love”   It’s been almost 10 years since the iconic voice of Whitney Houston faded from the chorus.  Now the deceased diva’s voice is moving up the charts once again.  A Norwegian producer named Kygo released a cover of Houston singing Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love”.  Whitney’s rendition of the song had previously been released on her 1990 album “I’m Your Baby Tonight”, but that bonus track was only sold on Japanese releases.  Kygo says Whitney’s estate contacted him about producing the special released and he obviously jumped at the chance saying, “I was honored when the Whitney Houston estate reached out and presented me with the opportunity to work with one of the greatest female vocalists of all time...”  The release of the song is the prelude to a planned posthumous album, a hologram tour, and even a Broadway musical based on the singer’s life. Whitney’s cover of the song caused quite a commotion when it first dropped quickly trending on social media.  If you haven’t heard it yet, check out below.
