Cue up that one lyric from ” The Beverly Hillbillies” theme song “Californy is the place you ought to be… loaded up the truck and they moved to Beverly. Hills, that is. Swimmin pools, movie stars…”
James may not be a “poor mountaineer”, but he definitely struck it richer (or rather ‘richer’) with his new Laker deal.
The move didn’t really catch any real sports analysts or fans off guard since many expected James to make the move. But what may be surprising to some is the money former Laker and shareholder Magic Johnson and the franchise were willing to fork over to make the deal happen. James inked a four-year contract for a whopping $154 million. That breaks down to $38.500,000 per season, $469,512 per game…$9,781 per minute. Now that’s a payday!
Laker-nation fans everywhere are tcelebrating, but no where can you find fans more ecstatic than LA where celebs have been toasting the move since the announcement.

Not everybody is happy, of course, the team that lost him the Cleveland Cavs are bummed. And the City of Brotherly Love isn’t loving the decision especially since the Sixers joined the Houston Rockets as possible contenders.

Chill Philly fans. There’ll be plenty of reasons to hate on James once the NBA season jumps off this fall.
