Social media seems to be the go-to outlet for expression for everyone—including celebrities. Most of the time we find out the entire scoop through Twitter and Instagram, and the incident with Dawn Richard and Danity Kane is no different.
It all started with a fight that broke out between Richard and Aubrey O’Day during one of the group’s recording sessions. It has been said that Richard punched O’Day in the back of her head with a closed fist during a business meeting, and now the group is going through yet another break up.
O’Day and Shannon Bex released statements to their fans on Facebook that explained the incidents that occurred, and they held nothing back as they blamed Richard for every single thing that went wrong within the group.
“During a recent group meeting, a business conversation took a turn for the worst when my group member punched me in the back of my head while I was speaking to another associate. To be clear, she was not physically engaged or threatened prior to her attack on me.”
And Bex proceeded to write: “As you can tell, I have been avoiding saying names. However, this was my personal reaction to escalating events that led up to my overall frustrations with Dawn….months ago.”
It was only expected that fans would be anxiously waiting for Richard’s response, and she finally reached out on Instagram and gave us the tea.
The singer basically said that her two former band mates were making it seem like she halted the entire album, and this was in response to fans requesting that they release their album as a courtesy to faithful supporters. But Richard was not having it.
“They won’t tell you they asked me to help them with vocals. Ad libs. Harmonies. That I was supportive,” Richard wrote. “But they never stayed in the lab with me. I did my own vocals. Vocally produced it myself.”
She went on to say that O’Day and Bex’s statements were shady and that she was moving forward as an solo act. She reminded fans that the choice was theirs as to whether they chose to support the girls separately or not at all.
It is sad to see DK break up again after going through so much drama, but sometimes that is what that industry will do to you.
