The tone deafness of this president is only trumped by his supporters. As many criticized Trump’s slow and soulless tweets about the disaster, his supporters rushed in to defend him. As witnessed in the past, Trump supporters think the best defense is to attack former President Obama and they used the opportunity to compare Trump’s response during Hurricane Harvey to that of Obama during Hurricane Katrina.
Yes…I know. Those of us who prefer actual facts realize that Trump supporters are off on yet another wild, baseless rant blindly covering up for Trump while ignoring or not knowing that President Obama was not in the White House when Hurricane Katrina ravaged Louisiana. Fortunately, for every dumb twitter user there are several smart ones who are more than happy to educate the ignorant and correct the alternative facts.
I don’t know who this “Stonekettle” twitter user is, but I think he officially just became my ‘Twitter-crush’.
Again, when POTUS needs to be concentrating on the people who make up this nation, he and his followers would rather concentrate on former President Obama. That acronym WWJD(what would Jesus do?) comes to mind. For Trump it’s ‘WWOD'(what would Obama do?) It’s an obsession that’s grown to be downright embarrassing for Trump and humorous to many of us. You can’t lead if you’re so obsessed with the footsteps someone else took in the past because you’re always looking behind and not forward.
A national emergency is the one time it’s easy to stand up and lead. All you have to do is show up, let people know you care and that the country is doing everything possible to help ease the pain of this catastrophe. Instead, Trump wished people ‘good luck’ before Harvey hit.
