Did I Say Oprah?I Meant Stacey Dash: Seal Clears The Air after Back Lash
by G. Brown
Nothing like a lot of twitter hate to make one rethink a position. That’s the current moment for singer Seal who was on the receiving end of a lot of hate mail (or actually hate social media posts) after his IG post was misunderstood.
Earlier in the week, the “Kiss from a Rose” singer posted cozy photos of Oprah Winfrey and accused Hollywood serial sexual harasser Harvey Weinstein with a stinging hashtag of #SanctimoniousHollywood“. After a full on dragging on social media, Seal came back to clear up what he says was a misunderstood post.
In the YouTube video, Seal started “Now let’s get straight to it. Let me star by saying that I have an enormous amount of respect for everything that Oprah has achieved and contributed in her life.” Seal went on to say he re-posted the meme showing Oprah who he says “just happened to be the person photographed with the pig in the picture” and that he never intended it to be an attack on Oprah. Seal says he used the picture, but his focus was on the commentary he added on “… the hypocritical double standard nature and behavior of Hollywood.” Seal then broke the fourth wall issuing a “back off Fox News” warning before getting to his most important point saying “…not one of the women who have been sexually abused…not one of the women who have come forward has received any real justice whatsoever. Losing your job because you either…raped…sexually abused or even sexually harassed a woman is not real justice.” That has been the point I’ve tried to convey on every topic about this so-called Hollywood sexual harassment movement. It’s not a movement to call people out, have them admit to their crimes, lose their jobs and go without any due process under the law. It’s simply making noise to the point of accusing someone new every day and nothing happens.
Then Seal got back to FOX News as promised saying, ” FOX News don’t try to use me as a pawn against Oprah in any of your political games. And Stacey Dash, keep my name out of your mouth. Do not retweet, requote anything I have said to reinforce your self-hating agenda.”
So maybe Seal was misunderstood or his point misrepresented and distorted by FOX News and apparently Stacey Dash.
