Father’s Day in America used to be a day of family dinners, ugly but endearing ties as gifts and an outpouring of love. This year, it was a day of outrage as celebs joined millions of Americans speaking up against what many are calling an American atrocity. The anger reached peak outrage when people like Bernie Sanders began posting video of Trump’s immigrant detention centers where reportedly 2,000 children are being held.
BREAKING: The U.S. government released horrifying footage of a child detention center in Texas. Together, we must defeat this inhumane and un-American action. pic.twitter.com/NGUyhQJ6TB

The only thing more despicable than throwing innocent, scared children into cages is to tell us the cages aren’t really cages, but “chain link walls“. That’s how one FOX News anchor actually described the cages.
The ludicrous lies to cover the cruelty don’t just end with tone deaf FOX anchors(which is actually an oxymoron). A spokesperson and Trump sycophant dismissed heartbreaking pictures like this one posted and reposted by numerous people as “child actors” staged to look like scared children separated from their parents. It’s such a dumb comment it defies rebuttal. But many celebs are refusing to remain silent about the inhumane treatment of children.
Seriously, fuck you. Reunite the families at the border and we can talk about father’s day. https://t.co/bbG0gVqfzq

You’d almost never know her father’s administration, to which she is an adviser, was brutally separating migrant children from their asylum-seeking parents and lost track of 1,500 of them… https://t.co/sMQ2GWA2zY

“Until the end of the Civil War, it was common for slave owners to rip families apart by selling the children to other slave owners. In the late 1800s to the 1970s, indigenous children across the country were forcibly separated from their families and sent to ‘Indian schools'” https://t.co/Q6xxQDcZZO

In the words of my father, “to ignore evil is to become an accomplice to it.” Separating children from their parents is beyond inhumane; it is evil. https://t.co/cGsdZA67qn

While it’s become cliche to watch celebs and liberals rush to their devices and social media to mouth off about social issues, this time, many celebs are taking action and encouraging their fans and followers to do the same.
Trying to do more than retweet. Going offline to make calls to folks doing this work, who have deep organizing experience. Will share what I find for anyone interested. #TentCity https://t.co/FcRrpZLs9e

Just when you think Republicans can’t sink any lower in defending such heinous actions, they weaponize the bible to lie to the public that all of this is Godly. It sounds similar to the arguments used to justify enslaving Black people and selling their children for profit. If you’re going to quote the Bible, put it in the proper context. God says “…do not despise one of these little ones.“(Matthew 18:10) “children are a heritage from the Lord…“(Psalm 127:3), “Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of their fathers“(Proverbs 17:6) God calls children a “blessing“, not pawns in political pissing matches to build a stupid wall.
