We’re going to start with a question. Do you care what the President tweets?
If you don’t, then you obviously are not a pro ball player. Many of them were triggered by one of President Trump’s weekend tweets.
The story actually started Friday night when Trump bashed LeBron and CNN’s Don Lemon after watching a re-airing of an interview the two did earlier in the week.
James talked about his new “I Promise” school in Ohio and his desire to help his hometown. Eventually, the talk turned to politics and King James accused Trump of using athletes and headlines like the NFL #takeaknee protest to divide the country. James said, “I can’t sit back and say nothing…He’s trying to divide our sport, but at the end of the day, sport is the reason why we all come together.” Lemon asked James what would he say to the President if he were sitting right across from him, his answer, “I would never sit across from him…I’d sit across from Barack, though.” OOOHHHHH, that last part was fighting words and Trump came out swinging…rather tweeting.
Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!

If LeBron’s burn didn’t roast Trump, the backfire from that tweet certainly did. Trump supporters and LeBron supporters alike posted it’s time for the president to stop with the name calling and thin-skinned knee jerk responses every time he’s criticized.
Those were softballs compared to how some of the pro athletes came in with hard hitting responses.
So let me get this straight: Flint, MI has dirty water still, but you worried about an interview about a man doing good for education and generations of kids in his hometown? Shut your damn mouth! Stop using them twitter fingers and get stuff done for our country with that pen. https://t.co/sEkX3OKaJM

I’ve been silent about ALL of the DUMB stuff this man has tweeted but THIS is attacking the NBA brotherhood and I’m not rollin’! What an embarrassment… https://t.co/zHjgokig8R

Even First Lady Melania via a spokesperson came out with a statement supporting LeBron saying, “It looks like LeBron James is working to do good things on behalf of our next generation…she would be open to visiting the I Promise School in Akron.”
The best responses clearly came the subjects of the attacks. LeBron adopted former First Lady Michelle Obama’s play and went high when Trump went low.
Let’s get it kids!! Love you guys https://t.co/kY88geedus

But newsman Lemon went in for the low blow…

And the ‘definitely not MVP award’ response goes to Michael Jordan who obviously played politics and tried to be diplomatic saying, “I support LJ. He’s doing an amazing job for his community.”
But MJ’s attempt not to ruffle any feathers, ruffled a few on fans who called him out on his constant neutrality.
This is STILL Michael Jordan saying NOTHING. Acknowledging that LeBron is “doing amazing work,” is NOT condemning Trump and his politics. Jordan’s statement in many ways says that he STILL doesn’t want to upset Republicans, because they “buy sneakers too.” https://t.co/oy3G3PzX4h

This was exactly LeBron’s point. Trump’s toxic tweet addiction is making everyone sick. Even when people try to stay out of the fray like Jordan did by not saying anything bad about anybody, he gets dragged.
Others saw this as Trump continuing tirade against Blacks and proof that he’s racist…
In Trump’s World:
LeBron James: dumb
Don Lemon: dumb
Maxine Waters: low IQ
black countries: shitholes
black athletes: SOBs
Black tenants: unwelcome
Black workers: lazy
Central Park 5: guilty
Nazis: very fine people

I heard an interesting interview with a historian who said that democracy dies when people are weary. People are definitely weary of Trump’s daily attacks on Blacks, athletes, immigrant children, Muslims, the FBI, the intelligence agencies and everybody. But are we sick of being tired yet.
We started with a question so let’s end with questions….Does the President’s tweets matter to you? Does his opinion of another human being affect your life in anyway? If we’re all so tired of the twitter tantrums, why don’t we just ignore them instead of being triggered by them?
