We celebrate actor Lance Gross for a plethora of things—awesome looks, impeccable acting, a warming spirit, and great photography—but we can now celebrate his place as a host of UNCF’s Empower Me Tour and his induction into fatherhood!
Gross is much more than the star of Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne”. UNCF is one of the nation’s largest and most effective minority education organizations. For Gross to team up with them to host the Empower Me Tour is a big deal simply because it puts the actor in an entirely new light to his fans.
The tour makes stops at different schools across the country. One school in particular was Dunbar High School in Washington, DC. They stopped there this past Saturday, and it hit a soft spot for Gross because Washington serves as old stomping grounds for him. The 33-year-old “Temptation” star is a Howard University alumnus, and he said that having the opportunity to go to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) was “a very rich and cultural experience” for him.
Now the star has the opportunity to speak to students who may be headed to HU, or any other university, and guide them as they make their transition.
What makes this opportunity so sweet for the award-winning actor is that it is preparing him for the new beginnings that has coming up in his life.
““I’m doing this for the other students, but pretty soon I’m gonna be doing it for my own daughter,” Gross said. “I’m an expecting father and I’m super excited. I’m ready to be a good example for her.”
The upcoming birth of his first child has the actor smiling from ear to ear, and she is set to arrive in November.
Now that a baby is well on its way, people have been wondering when Gross and his fiancée, Rebeca Jefferson, will tie the knot and become an official family. Gross will not reveal a date, but that will not stop us from patiently waiting for the day they say ‘I do.’
Until then, we will comment Lance Gross for allowing fatherhood to change him for the better.
