Get Ready for a “Girls Trip” & Winfrey & Daniels Re-Team for a Remake: Black Hollywood Wrap Up

Kerry Washington is “The Perfect Mother” The “Scandal” actress will be putting the White House on hold while she stars in a new thriller. “The Perfect Mother” is set in NYC and centers around a group of Moms living inside their perfect little bubbles until one of their children is abducted from his crib. While police investigate to find the kidnappers, the mothers attempt to unravel the mystery and unintentionally open a Pandora box of damaging secrets that threaten marriages and friendships. Washington is slated to not only star in the new movie but will be pulling double duty as executive producer as well. No word on when the movie will start filming or on who will be joining Washington in the cast.
Winfrey, Lee Daniels Re-team for “Terms of Endearment” Hollywood power houses Oprah Winfrey and “Empire” creator Lee Daniels are reportedly teaming up for a remake of the 1983 box office hit “Terms of Endearment”. Daniels could be on tap to direct the remake with Winfrey in a starring role made famous in the original by Shirley McClain as “Aurora Greenway”. The movie focuses on Greenway’s complex relationship with her daughter Emma Greenway-Horton who learns she is dying from cancer. No word on who will play Winfrey’s daughter in the remake or any other casting news. The last time Daniels and Winfrey teamed up was in the 2013’s critical hit “The Butler”. The remake is reportedly currently under development at Paramount Pictures.
Road Trip with The Girls Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Regina Hall hit the road for a road trip this summer with the tagline “You’re Be Glad You Came”. The comedy follows four friends on their journey to New Orleans where they rekindle and rediscover the joys of friendship. The trip is full of dancing, drinking, fighting and romancing. Rounding out the cast are Tiffany Haddish, Mike Colter of Netflix’s hit “Luke Cage” series, Larenz Tate and Kate Walsh. Expect to hit the road with the girls July 21 on the release date.
