Halle Berry has made her mark in more than just the acting scene.  At the same time, she is more than just a pretty face.  Here are 10 facts about the divine Halle Berry.

  1. She was ambitious and driven since high school.

Not only was she was a cheerleader, but was a member of the Honor Society, president of her class, school newspaper editor and prom queen.  Talk about busy bee!


  1. Halle was the first African American Miss World Entrant.

Before her fame on the big screen, Halle Berry was a model.  She was the first black model to enter the Miss World contest became the first runner-up in the 1985 Miss USA.


  1. Halle Berry loss 80% of her hearing after being beaten by then boyfriend Wesley Snipes.

She began a relationship with Wesley Snipes after meeting him on the set of Jungle Fever.  Wesley Snipes was abusive in their problematic relationship.  For a very long time, we thought Christopher Williams was responsible for Halle’s hearing loss until he made it clear that Wesley Snipes was responsible.  I wonder why Halle Let Chris take the fall like that.


  1. In 1995, she played Queen of Sheba, in the Showtime’s movie Solomon & Sheba.

In the book of Solomon, the Queen of Sheba was supposed to be sexy as hell. I’m sure Halle Berry still gave her a run for her money, though.


  1. Playboy magazine named her one of the “100 Sexiest Women of the Century” in 1998.

It only makes sense that Halle Berry would make this list.  In fact, she’ll probably be one of the sexiest woman in the next century as well.


  1. She is one of only four actresses, along with Faye Dunaway, Sandra Bullock and Liza Minnelli, to win both the Academy Award for Best Actress and the Razzie Award for Worst Actress

Okay, so Catwoman was a hilariously bad movie for Halle Berry to participate in, which is why she won the award.  But hey, at least she kills it in a cat suit.  At the same time, only Berry can win awards for being the best and the worst actress at the same time.  That’s what you call true talent.

7. She won many awards for her role as Dorothy Dandridge.

Not only that, but Halle won the SAG Award, a Golden Globe and an Emmy for the HBO biopic in 1999.   I think Dandridge would have been proud.

She starred alongside Hugh Jackman and John Travolta.  The movie didn’t do so well, but topless scene was definitely the headline of the movie.
