He Threatened to Kill Howard University Students Because “It’s Not Murder If They’re Black”
by G. Brown
It took two years, but police finally arrested a 26 year old man who used online message boards and Reddit to threaten students at the historically Black Howard University.
According to The Washington Post, John Edgar Rust was arrested Wednesday and charged with making the threats back in 2015. The Post says at the time, Rust wrote, “Any n—–s left at Howard University after 10 tomorrow will be the first to go . . . After all, it’s not murder if they’re black.”
Details as to why Rust was arrested two years after his threats are unclear, but in wake of the Las Vegas massacre and the deaths of 59 people law enforcement has no choice. Even the most thinly veiled threat has to be taken deadly serious. And Rust’s threats were not insinuations but blatant. The Post quotes him as saying online at one point, “I’m angry at everyone and that’s just fueling the existing unresolved anger I have towards people which will burst,” he told the same person, according to the affidavit. “I planned how to take out that anger years ago and I’ve been sitting on that plan ever since.”
Rust had been barred from the internet because of previous charges and his registration as a sex offender. The Washington Post also reports that Rust was “…convicted in 2012 in Loudoun County of aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties with a child by a custodian.”
His logic that “it’s not murder if they’re black” is void of anything resembling logic or thought for that matter. His statement is also void of any respect for Blacks. It is pure hate and racism that blames anyone not White for his problems in life. Rust mentioned that he was “angry at everyone“…welcome to the club, everybody’s angry about something. But most of us don’t feel that others should pay for how we feel and decide to go and cowardly gun down innocent people at a concert or innocent students at a university.
Rust said he had his “plan” that he made “years ago” and was “sitting on” it. We know that two years passed before he was arrested…why did it take so long? On any given day, Rust could have gotten out of bed and decided ‘today I carry out my plan’. He could have changed his target from Howard students to Black children at a playground or a daycare. If the FBI and authorities had this information, why did it take so long to track this guy down and arrest him? If Las Vegas hadn’t happen, would Rust be in custody now?
What do you think….
