New Edition Seeing Stars Back in the 80’s, Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Michael and Ralph made teenage girls swoon to their tunes. New Edition was R&B bubble gum soul at its best and in their day they were boy-band royalty. Thirty-five years later, adoring fans haven’t forgotten the boys who sang “Candy Girl”, “Cool It Now” and “Mr. Telephone Man”. The group was honored with its very own star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame star and some of the guys got a bit emotional. Ricky Bell said, “Our friendships, our relationships go so far back before New Edition…We came together because we had a passion and a desire to do something. It was simple, it was just to sing, just to dance, just to make some girls scream”—well, mission accomplished. Die hard fans still love their music and they can tune in to find out more of what went on behind the music with members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe, and Ralph Tresvant as BET airs a three-part miniseries “The New Edition Story” beginning January 24.

MCLyte’s New “Ruffneck”! Social Media is buzzing about rapper/actress MC Lyte’s latest IG post complete with a photo of her gazing lovingly at her new love. The “Keep on Keepin On” rapper posted “What can I say, except thank you Lord!! It’s been a long time, this singe life, and I thank you all for your prayers and kind words of hope. God has sent me true love. For all of you waiting on LOVE- don’t give up – keep God first and he will see that you meet your match. #godisall” Fans were happy for Lyte and a bit confused since rumors have plagued the rapper her entire career that she was gay. Some comments say this true love post is “Paper Thin” and it’s all just an act– to which the rapper would probably say “Shut the Eff Up!” ala her 1989 album. Love is hard enough so if you are fortunate enough to find it–TRN wishing MC Lyte all the best.
