If You Come For Auntie Max, Twitter is Coming for You: Stacey Dash Calls Congresswoman a “Buffoon”

by TRN Writers

California congresswoman Maxine Waters is known for her smart, blunt and always on point speeches like the one she recently delivered as an honoree at the Black Girls Rock 2017 awards.

Waters was bestowed the Social Humanitarian Award by the group which was formed eleven years ago with the soul purpose of  helping young girls between the ages of 13-17  get their hands on the tools and resources to encourage them on their journeys to becoming dynamic leaders. Annually the group  celebrate women of color who are “trailblazers” in their fields with an awards show.

Waters stole the show this year with her speech that was in part directed to the Alt Right and White supremacists behind hate filled protests like the recent event in Charlottesville that ended in the death of one counter-protester.  Waters has put herself directly in the cross hairs of such groups by calling out Donald Trump for his wrongdoings as president. Waters reminded the audience at this year’s award gala that as a strong Black woman she will not be intimidated.

In her speech, Waters said “We have power, we have influence, we can do things that others have told us we can’t do, If you come for me, I’m coming for you…. Whether it’s the president of the United States of America or any of his cabinet members, we will say to them, ‘we will resist you. We will not allow you to damage this country in the way you’re doing. We will not allow you to take us backwards. Not only will we resist you, we will impeach you!”  It was classic Waters at her best–honest and powerful.

Waters’ formidable words forced the live audience to its feet erupting in applause. Every Black woman who heard that speech was left cheering…except for one.  Actress Stacey Dash called Waters a “buffoon” in a Twitter post.

Well, Auntie Maxine didn’t have to “come for you” Stacey Dash, because Twitter gladly picked up the torch to defend Waters…

Dash hasn’t really been seen or heard from since FOX News fired her in January of this year.  Dash used her stint on the show to routinely speak against anything or anyone the Black community supported.  Maybe as Twitter users pointed out, Dash was bored or just felt “irrelevant” and decided to hang on to the coattails of someone who is so relevant that her “I’m reclaiming my time” refrain at a House Financial Services Committee Judiciary hearing inspired a gospel song .

Dash’s snarky “sucking up her late in life 15 minutes” line was typical of her “Clueless” attempt at biting wit.  Waters is enjoying a well deserved glow in the spotlight and yes she is a senior citizens at 79 years old. But Waters is making laws to benefit not only Californians, but Americans.  She’s fighting the good fight to benefit every citizens (even Dash) at a time when the battle is the fiercest.  Dash had a sidekick role in one major movie almost 25 years ago.  So yes Dash, this may be her 15 minutes of fame, but Waters will do more in that 15 minutes than you’ve accomplished in the last 15 years.
