Is Alcoholism To Blame For Mariah Carey’s Declining Vocal Ability?

Mariah Carey didn’t exactly have the greatest performance on “The Elusive Chanteuse Show.”  In fact, her voice was barely recognizable.  We’re talking about the same 8-octave songstress diva that will never cease to bring the house down.  Yeah, she actually has bad performances every now and then, though it seems rare.  Or could it be another reason for her recent misfortune?  Sources are speculating that Carey might be abusing the booze.  Can we blame alcoholism as the atrocity that accosted our legendary starlet?

It wouldn’t be a surprise if that were the case, considering everything she’s going through with Nick Cannon.  The two have decided to divorce not too long ago, and divorces can be tough on anyone.   Meanwhile, Cannon has mentioned that Mariah has been a little hostile in the past and that he feared safety for his children.  Could alcoholism be the underlining reason for that, too?

Whatever the reason is, and regardless of whether or not Mariah has become a booze hound, we can let this performance slide.  I mean, it’s Mariah Carey we’re talking about here.  How often do mishaps like this happen with her, anyway?  At the end of the day, she is still the songbird we’ve all grown to love. According to GrapeJuice, they’re seeming to let Mariah off with a warning as well:

When I think of Mariah Carey I think of classic diva.

When the dust has settled, Mariah Carey will inevitably go down as one of the greatest vocalists of all time. However, in the here and now, the singer’s instrument appears to need some fine-tuning.

For, after wrapping the first night on the Asian leg of her new tour ‘The Elusive Chanteuse Show’, disturbing footage has emerged of the diva struggling with a number of songs…only to sound MP3 magnifique on others.

See what we mean below…

See the video… it’s really terrible! Find it on youtube if you can…
