For some parents, allowing their children to be expressive is important. They feel that in order for their child to blossom into a well-rounded individual they must be themselves at all times. For Will & Jada Smith, freedom of self expression is a part of their parenting style. Willow Smith is a diva who is allowed to express herself however she pleases, and critics are shaking their heads in disapproval.

13-year-old Willow Smith was caught in a world of controversy when she shared a picture of her lying in bed with shirtless 20-year-old actor, Moises Arias. Most critics  wondered where Will and Jada were during the time the songstress was lying in bed with a man 7 years her senior. Due to the suggestive nature of the photo, rumors started that the two were engaging in an inappropriate relationship. Others speculated that she was with her brother, who is Moises’ close friend.

TMZ met with Jada outside LAX airport where she defended her daughter’s photo:

“There was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation.”

A few weeks following the controversy, Jaden Smith posted a picture of himself in the bed with Kim Kardashian’s younger sister, Kylie Jenner. It was very similar to the picture his sister had previously posted.

May people saw the picture as a message to all the Smith ‘Haters.” But instead of gaining the support of the public, the Smith’s found themselves in a situation with Children Protective Services.

According to RadarOnline, “The investigation was formally opened last week and is being taken very seriously by the department,” an insider told Radar. “Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have been extremely cooperative with officials. Of course, they aren’t happy that their parenting skills are under scrutiny, but they understand.”

The source revealed, “Social workers will also be talking separately with Willow, and they also want to talk to the young man in the picture with her as well. This won’t just be one or two visits with the family, and it will likely be an open investigation for at least a month, out of an abundance of caution.”
