Jill Scott has indeed been living her life like its golden. It’s also the best way to explain her new blond wig (that she rocks fabulously I might add) on the cover of the September issue of Essence magazine.
But other than her new hair-do, Scott has a new movie coming out featuring the king of soul himself. She’s going to be starring as Deedee in the upcoming James brown biopic, “Get On Up.”
She sat down with The Source and told them about her role as the second wife of James Brown.
“Deedee’ understood James and accepted him. It was a part of their thing. Sometimes, he’s very passionate and loving and sometimes, the weight of being James Brown was taken out on her and she accepted it.”
When asked if Scott’s singing abilities ever taken on the challenge to cover a James Brown song, the songstress told TheSource, I have never covered a James Brown song. I would like to, but I don’t know which one. His jazz standards are amazing. I don’t even know if I could. That’s a big undertaking. I’m not opposed to it all.”
We’re very excited to see what she has in store for us in theaters. She was very good in her previous projects with Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married,” and “Why Did I get Married Too?” Where she played the role of a wife enduring a physically and verbally abusive relationship with her husband. Despite her character undergoing her husband’s abuse and infidelity, she is able to find love within herself, and eventually in a new mate.
The James Brown biopic has hit theaters and we encourage everyone to go see Jill Scott in action. Are you excited for Jill Scott’s new role? Tell us what you think by commenting below.
