Kevin Hart Donates $25k to Hurricane Victims: Challenges Celebrities To Do More Than Post Prayers
by G. Brown
Harvey is a name that Houston residents will never forget. Hurricane Harvey hit Southeast Texas on Friday bringing at least 25 inches of rain over the weekend. The rainfall shattered previous records, left at least two people dead, numerous other people injured and more than 300-thousand more without power.
Thousands of people had to be rescued as Harvey wreaked havoc and heartache for Houston residents. Forecasters are saying the worst is not over even as the rain dissipates during the week, intermittent showers expected to add to flooding. FEMA predicts Hurricane Harvey will force at least 30,000 people to flee their homes and seek help at temporary shelters. High winds and flooding have made conditions almost impossible for emergency crews to get a complete assessment of all the damage.
In times of social distress, people often do whatever they can to let victims know they are not alone. That usually means offering words of prayer and encouragement on social media. Houston’s most famous native didn’t forget her hometown. Beyonce shared her thoughts on the hurricane ravaging Houston and her home-state with her 106 million Instagram followers…
Beyonce’s former Destiny’s Child member and fellow Houston native Kelly Rowland also reached out with words of encouragement. Showing her pride and love for home state Rowland posted, “Houston has, and always will be the city that changed my LIFE! Everyone please send out prayers for H-Town!”
NBA Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry posted…
Prayers up for Houston! Many fam and friends living there. Don’t really know what to say in times like these but hope we can help somehow!

And Sean Diddy Combs reached out to his brother and all of Houston with words of support…

Comedian/actor Kevin Hart is challenging people to do more than post on social media. Hart donated $25k to the American Red Cross and he is urging others to step up and lend a hand. Hart turned to his instagram post to plead for help saying, “I think we’ve participated in a lot of challenges on the internet. Some meaningful, some meaningless, but we’ve done ’em. At this point I’m going to issue a real challenge.”
Hart specifically called out Beyonce, Chris Rock and Justin Timberlake to open not just their hearts but their wallets and donate to relief funds.
