“Of course sometimes sh*t goes down when there’s a billion dollars on an elevator.”
And it was repeated….hmm…
Was this a strategic tactic on Beyonce’s part to clear the air on the incident about what happened with Solange and Jay-Z? Or was this just a distraction for the fans to eat up with Bey and Jay-Z scheming behind the scenes?
Whatever the motive behind the verse, the purposed was designed to get a lot of attention. This could explain why Nicki Minaj had to postpone the release date of the album “Anaconda,” so she could squeeze Bey in. Except for, I don’t get the impression that Bey wanted to just be on the album with the self-proclaimed “female Weezy.” I think she wanted to get on that album specifically to send that message to the fans. And boy, did she send the fans into a whirlwind.
But this isn’t the only verse that’s causing a bunch of controversy. Suddenly, Lil Kim enters the ring dissing Nicki Minaj from the verse reference “queen B.” I think Nicki was referring to Beyonce, but Lil Kim mercilessly came in regardless. Within two days of the remix’s release, Kim jumped on the track aiming to behead Minaj.
“Am I trippin’ or did this Ho just say my name?/ Queen of rap, f–k outta here, Queen’s back, f–k outta here/ Time to get this rap b-tch up outta here,”
Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim have some history regarding who’s the best female rapper. Nicki’s claim to be the best is not sitting well with Brooklyn’s Queen B, and she makes it a point to let Minaj know at every turn. Minaj’s has yet to respond, and what a fiasco that will be if she does.
For those who haven’t kept up with the drama in the Carter family, a brawl broke out in an elevator between Solange and Jay-Z. Nobody knows why Beyonce’s younger sister went beserk on Jay to this day. However, despite the climactic uproar, the most memorable character in that scene was Beyonce, because she didn’t make any attempts to stop the fight. In fact, when they left the elevator, she was caught smirking on camera. This then lead to more unanswered questions, such as “Why did Beyonce just stand there?” “Why was Beyonce smiling?” “Did Jay deserve it?”
It was reported that the couple toured separately during the On The Run tour, despite performing on stage together as if nothing was wrong. This followed rumors about infidelity between Jay and Bey, after Beyonce pulled that stunt of changing the lyrics in an older song she wrote about fidelity.
Since then, there have been multiple interpretations by the fans about this notorious verse.
