There was once a time where everyone believed that rapper Lil’ Wayne might be gay because of a picture circulating that suggested that Wayne and Birdman shared an intimate kiss. It had fans and viewers wondering what the status of their relationship really was. (We only know them to be father and son.)
Rumors of Wayne’s sexuality and his relationship with Birdman died down simply because the world keeps spinning and so does celebrity gossip, but there is a disturbing YouTube video out in the universe that poses another raised brow at what is really going on with young entertainers who are in the music industry.
The video began with Lil’ Wayne revealing to some friends that he was raped at 11 years old and that he enjoyed it. Rather than anyone being uncomfortable or uneasy at the sound of rape, everyone in the room laughed. They seemed amused instead of horrified.
“I got raped at 11 years old, and I loved it,” Wayne said.
Among the men in the room, 21-year-old rapper and label mate Lil’ Twist was present, and Wayne proceeded to say that he was going “to do Twist like Baby did him.”
This makes me wonder: how early is too early for young boys to think about glamorize sex? Though Lil’ Twist is now 21, Lil’ Wayne was only 11 when he first learned that he enjoyed sexual behavior, and that may have everything to do with some of the content in his music.
Lil’ Wayne’s music is extremely popular, and he serves as a role model for much of the younger generation. If he has been conditioned to think that being raped and being introduced to various types of sexual behavior is normal at 11 years of age, it is possible that those same thoughts will be passed on to whatever young mind is listening to his music, interviews, etc.
How young is too young for boys to engage in sexual behavior? Furthermore, do entertainers have anything to do with why society is lessening the seriousness of the term ‘rape’?
