Larenz Tate on Scandal Rumors – “All the Talk is Just Talk”

by Joshua D. Copeland

Is Larenz Tate going to play Harrison on Scandal?  Don’t hold your breath…

While the idea of Tate replacing ex-gladiator Columbus Short on the ABC hit series, the actor decided to set the record straight with all the rumors.

Tate addressed the rumors during his appearance on Access Hollywood.  He told Access anchors Billy Bush and Kit Hoover that “all the talk is just talk.”

“The ‘Scandal’ is such a scandal!  The ‘Scandal’ hearsay or rumors started I guess through the gladiator fans. Like, they’re people who love the TV show ‘Scandal’ and thought that I would be a great addition to the show.  I think it’s an amazing show, but it’s just hearsay.  Nothing official.”

The rumors of Tate being added to the Scandal lineup surfaced quickly after Short’s  departure from the show.  Ever since Short left the show he’s been dragged through the trenches of negative press from the media and several encounters with the law.  Tate and Short have been friends for some time, and he says he wishes him nothing but the best.

“I know Columbus, I’m friends with Columbus, and he’s had a really tough time right now. For me, I just hope the best for him and his family above all,” the “Love Jones” star expressed. “The job – that’s great, being on a hot TV show – [but] what’s important is family, and for him to just keep the family together as best as possible.”

Even if the rumors were true, the situation would create a conflict for Tate who is already starring in USA Network’s new drama “Rush.”  It would all depend on whether or not Tate’s contract would allow him to appear on cable TV and network television ad the same time.

“I think that things are always up for negotiation, you know what I’m saying?” he said. “I’m a businessman. But I like what I’m doing right now.”

If the opportunity did present himself, would Larenz Tate make a good Harrison?  Share your thoughts.
