MaryMary Singer Slammed by Twitter Again After Another Verse of “I Voted for Trump”

by G. Brown

If it’s on the internet, it can always come back to haunt you.  Forget that delete button, once its on the web, ‘delete’ can’t even make it disappear.  I’m talking to you Tina Campbell!  The MaryMary singer has to be dreading the moment back in January she uttered those four little words ‘I voted for Trump’.   That was back in January…now here we are in October and those four were back like Halloween to haunt the gospel singer this weekend.

Campbell released her sophomore album “It’s Still Personal” on Friday and instead of sticking to talking about another solo album or the music, she decided to talk again about why she voted for Donald Trump.

Campbell said following the election that “Christian values”lead her to chose Trump, “I was faced with two presidential candidates that I really did not approve of…And so I had to find something, a commonality with one of them, that would make me feel like if I have to vote, I should utilize my right to vote. Since I don’t prefer either of them, what can I find that would make me vote? And some of Donald Trump’s views on Christianity, honestly, is what caused me to vote for him.”

Sounding like a broken record, Campbell was still singing that tune of “I support my President” in an interview she did with ABC TV…

We heard you the first time you said Campbell…but to re-interate it now…after Charlottesville, after the NFL “fire the son of b**ch” slam against kneeling to protest, after going after the NBA, after showing no heart for those hit hard by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, after the daily lying, the bullying of handicapped people, the degrading of women…well,  to borrow a thought from the title of her album, the singer made it ‘personal’.  And Twitter got personal in responding…

Campbell forgets that a lot of people have read the bible, also have Christian values or just basic morality and its hard for many of them to see what “Christian values” Trump represents.  Was it treating his marital vows as sacred?–Cheated on his first wife with the woman who became his second wife who he later dumped to marry his current wife.  Was it his racism? His hatred of gays?  Of immigrants? Of the poor?  Proverbs, Romans 10:12, Colossians 3:11, James 2:9, 1 John 2:11 all teach that we are the same…God has no favorites, “there is no distinction between Jew and Greek”–Trump doesn’t reflect any of these teachings.  So exactly what did she see reflected in his life that exemplifies any of what the bible teaches?  Or was it because Trump said he was a Christian?  Then, that’s even more disappointing because if what you say doesn’t line up with what you do…then your actions often tells us who you really are.  Trump can say he’s Michael Jackson, but we know that doesn’t make him MJ.  He can say he’s a Christian, but if he’s grabbing women by private parts, supporting White supremacists and neo Nazi’s, hiring alt righters and racists…then where is Jesus in any of that?

It’s ok if she voted for Trump, just don’t try to convince the rest of us it was because of Christian values because the man acts  less like Jesus and more like the anti-Christ.  I liked MaryMary’s song the “God in Me”, but most people just can’t see the God in Trump.

What do you think…are people being too rough on Campbell?
