Tiffany Haddish -Girl on Fire The break out star of last year’s “Girls Trip” is still getting good mileage out of her sleeper hit. Rolling Out Mag reports that Haddish has landed a role and will “star opposite Hollywood heartthrob Omari Hardwick in a Tyler Perry movie, The List.. The story revolves around a wild, adventurous sister (Haddish) who is coming back into the mainstream after her release from prison. She is reunited with her sibling, played by Tika Sumpter , who will need the street smarts and wiles of her sister to deal with a problem in her own life. Perry is 100 percent on board for “The List” as writer, director and producer of the film which is shooting for a fall release.
Whitney Houston’s Life Thru the Eyes of “The Bobby Brown Story” BET is hoping to answer questions about the life of singer Whitney Houston with a new miniseries told from the perspective of the man who loved her. According to entertainment site The Jasmine Brand, “Gabrielle Dennis will portray Whitney Houston in BET’s upcoming miniseries” The website lists other stars slated for the project as “Woody McClain as Bobby Brown, Mekhi Phifer, Lil Rel Howery, T.K. Carter, Laz Alonso, Lance Gross, Alyssa Goss and Sandi McCree. Phifer plays Tommy Brown, Bobby’s brother. Howery is Brian Irvine, Bobby’s business manager. Carter plays Herbert “Pops” Brown, Bobby’s father. Alonso is Louil Silas Jr, an MCA producer-executive who helps make Bobby a solo star. Gross is set as Steven Sealy, a childhood friend of Bobby’s who is killed in a gunfight after hanging with him at a hometown bar. Goss plays Bobby’s current wife, Alicia Etheridge, and McCree will reprise her New Edition Story as Bobby’s mother Carole Brown.
Filming on the project got underway in Atlanta earlier this month and is slated for a September release.
