We will never know how great Antwon Rose could have been. 17-year old Antwon Rose’s name now joins a long list of Black people who were killed by police officers for no other crime than being in the wrong place at the wrong time while Black.

The outrage sparked by Antwon’s death passed the boiling point over the weekend after a jury found Officer Michael Rosfeld not guilty on Friday. Hundreds of students, activists and caring citizens poured into the streets to protest throughout the weekend and on Monday.

According to Atlanta Black Star, “Rose was riding in an
unlicensed taxi that had been involved in a drive-by shooting minutes earlier when Rosfeld pulled the car over and shot the teenager in the back, arm and side of the face. Neither Rose nor another teen in the taxi was holding a weapon when the officer opened fire, though two guns were later found in the vehicle
.”

The jury foreman, A Black 72 -year-old retired schoolteacher, told CBS news that they weighed the evidence and realized Officer Rosfeld was simply scared because he knew there had just been a drive-by shooting. Foreman Jesse Rawls Sr. added Antwon and his friend “brought it on themselves”.

Lack of compassion for the victim and those who defend his name spread to social media where commentary on a local Pittsburgh TV News station live coverage of the protest was full of people slamming student protesters.

It’s like a new verse in an old song-“Black person unarmed, White cop kills Black person, jury finds White cop not guilty”. Particularly disturbing was the foreman’s comment that the cop was “afraid”. It’s sad because jurors understood the cop could be afraid, but a 17 year old running for his life wasn’t afraid?

What do you think….did Rose “bring it on himself” for running? Was the cop just doing his job? Or is this in your opinion another case of Black Lives don’t matter?

Keep marching and they will keep killing your sons and daughters. Had that been my children there would’ve been a flag draped casket instead of a trial.

Keep marching and they will keeping your sons and daughters like dogs. Your enemy has no conscience . If that was my son that pig would’ve never made it to trial.

this is another case of a terrorist in a uniform. And from the comments of the foreman of the jury, A black man? clearly demonstrates that people like this sellout are known to the injustice system and are hand picked. Condolences of the family they need to appeal and also Sue the police.
