Prince “R U Listening?” A new documentary is said to be in the works on the life and career of singer, composer and musician Prince. The documentary will take us back to the beginning of the singer’s career as remembered by those who knew him best—family and friends. The film will feature interviews and commentary from artists like bass player Andre Cymone who worked along side Prince. We’ll also hear from other greats like Sheila E., Lenny Kravitz and Mick Jagger who will share their memories of Prince. The man who introduced the world to the Minneapolis sound was a force that changed the music industry and his death is still mourned by many worldwide. Prince was found April 21st of this year in an elevator in his Paisley Park home. Initially a 9-1-1 caller said the singer was unresponsive, but quickly changed his statement to say Prince was dead. Prince is said to have died from an accidental overdose of opiates used to treat hip problems. The singer had endured the changing music scene to remain a top performer thru the years. His flamboyant, eclectic and playful stage presence always left fans wanting more. Prince sold over 100 million records worldwide, was a seven time Grammy Award winner and even won an Academy Award for his film “Purple Rain”. The documentary on the singer’s life is slated to be released sometime in 2017.
T-Boz Gets “Unpretty” for Soap Role TLC front woman T-Boz (Tionne Watkins) is back on the mic. This time she won’t be singing but playing a hardened criminal as a guest star on NBC’s Days of Our Lives. T-Boz will be playing a character named Sheila and she is running things inside the women’s prison. She’ll prove to be one of the soap’s main stars Hope Brady’s (Krisian Alfonso) worst nightmares. T-Boz rose to fame in the early ’90s as one third of the R&B/hip hop group TLC with chart topping hits like “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg”, “Creep”, “Waterfalls” and “No Scrubs”. The group eventually disbanded after the death of member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez. Last year, T-Boz and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas reunited and organized a kickstarter to cut their final album. The 15 track disc is expected to drop in 2017. T-Boz premieres in her first soap role on November 30 and will be appearing in episodes through January.
Nia Long Stars in “Beaches” Reboot Get ready for a good cry as Nia Long stars in the reboot of 1988’s classic hit “Beaches”. Long stars as Hillary in the tearjerker that follows two best friends from childhood to tragedy. Idina Menzel co-stars as CC and we follow the friends over several decades as they both rise to successful peaks in their careers, fall in love, start families and face a life-threatening illness. In the original, Bette Midler played CC and Barbara Hersey was Hillary. Midler also sang the iconic song “Wind Beneath My Wings” which will be re-recorded by Menzel. The original film received an Academy Award nomination and Midler’s song won a Grammy for Record and Song of the Year. “Beaches” will premiere on Lifetime January 21.
