Congrats to all the Oscar nominees this year including…
- Best Picture: “Get Out”
- Lead Actor: Denzel Washington, “Roman J. Israe, Esq.”, Daniel Kaluuya,”Get Out”
- Supporting Actress: Mary J. Blige, “Mudbound”, Octavia Spencer, “The Shape of Water”
- Director & Original Screenplay: “Get Out,” Jordan Peele
- Animated Short: “Dear Basketball,” Kobe Bryant
Some surprises…like Kobe Bryant, who knew? And Mary J.’s admirably humble and moving reaction. As a nine-time Grammy winner, you’d think Mary J. would be over it all when it comes to awards, but this is her first-ever nom for acting and she responded, “This feels awesome. It feels so good. I can’t tell you… I feel so overjoyed. I can’t stop crying all these happy tears. Just so grateful and thankful. God is the absolute greatest.” And there are other notable Oscar nomination 2018 achievements like Jordan Peele’s four nominations including Best Picture for his first film “Get Out”.
Lots of amazing moments, but one of the most talked about un-amazing moments was the presenters who announced the nominees. Actually, it was really just one presenter.
Tiffany Haddish has been the it girl since her movie “Girls Trip” was a surpise at the box office and the comedian has been landing gigs everywhere as a result. But perhaps, this was one gig she should have turned down. As entertainment news site The Jasmine Brand reported, Haddish just had a really hard time pronouncing some of the nominees.
The comedian may be used to pulling some laughs, but a lot people didn’t find her inability to pronounce names very funny.
Well, Haddish had a bad moment and being the bright lady she appears to be, she’ll make it a life lesson and be ready to pronounce those foreign names next time.
