The New Odd Couple Snoop and Martha Stewart It sounds like yet another reboot of the 70’s sitcom “The Odd Couple”, but this isn’t a comedy (at least not a planned one) it’s a cooking show. “Martha and Snoop’s Dinner Party” is VH1’s new show that will feature the rapper and the DIY lifestyle expert as co-hosts. Each week, they’ll host a celebrity dinner party each on the unscripted series. Stewart is one of the creators of the show and says the dinner party will “exemplify America’s fascination with food, entertaining and celebrity”. Snoop seems pretty excited about the new show as well saying, “My homegirl Martha and I have a special bond that goes back. We’re gonna be cooking, drinking and having a good time with our exclusive friends. Can’t wait for you to see how we roll together!” This isn’t the first time these two have collaborated. In 2008, Snoop was a guest on Stewart’s “Martha Stewart Living” where he showed off his culinary skills and just last year they were giggling at each other and for the camera at Comedy Central’s Justin Bieber roast. Stewart ‘s already busy stirring up promos for the new show and borrows a little slang from her co-host saying, “Our new show is rizzle, dizzle for shizzle,” No premier date yet.
Watch out Cookie, Mariah is Headed to “Empire” FOX TV says it’s official, diva Mariah Carey will be appearing on the hit show about the music industry. Carey is slated to play a character named Kitty. The part won’t exactly require a lot of acting from Mariah, since she’ll be playing a singing superstar who works with Jamal Lyon to create her a new hit song. Fans have been left to wonder all summer after the season 2 murderous cliffhanger what will happen when the Lyon family returns in the fall. Fans hoping for that feels so good moment when Lucious and Cookie are reunited will be disappointed this season. Show runners say Cookie (played by Taraji P. Henson) will have all the attention of actor Taye Digg who plays “Angelo Dubois”. “Empire’s” phenomenal ratings may also be leading to a spin off according to show producers. “Empire”returns for its season 3 premier on September 21.
Jada Pinkett Smith’s Return to “Gotham” It seems like just a season ago that Smith packed up her bag and said farewell to the place she called home for the first season. But apparently all roads back to the fictitious city as the actress is slated to reprise her villainous role on “Gotham” as the tough as nails and take no prisoners crime boss Fish Mooney. Pinkett-Smith is currently scheduled to appear in the first two episodes when the season kicks off and she’ll be returning for the second half of the season as well. “Gotham” season 3 premiers on September 19 on FOX.
For this week in Black Hollywood, that’s a wrap!
