They just got back together, only to break up again. This time it was due to a physical altercation between Dawn Richards and Aubrey O’Day. Aubrey and DK member Shannon Bex decided to write a long note to their fans to explain the truth behind the beef within the inner circle of Danity Kane. According to the joint letter, the fight was started by Dawn Richards. Aubrey writes:
“During a recent group meeting, a business conversation took a turn for the worst when my group member punched me in the back of my head while I was speaking to another associate. To be clear, she was not physically engaged or threatened prior to her attack on me. This is the same information I provided to the police, and witnesses also corroborated this account of the incident. I cannot condone or excuse any form of physical violence, particularly at the hands of someone I considered family. Disagreements happen. But a war of words and ideas should never end in physical aggression.”
Aubrey and Shannon claim that Dawn had been creating much conflict for quite some time now. And that she went as far as to cross a “moral and ethical line”.
“It breaks my heart that this violence is followed by no sign of remorse. For the past year, I watched small lies turn into bigger lies. Those bigger lies turned into verbal abuse. Now the verbal abuse has deteriorated into a physical assault,” she said. “I put what I knew was right second to what I knew I could handle for the sake of the big-picture success this incredibly talented group of women could have achieved together.”
As bad as this all sounds, there’s always two sides to the story. When Dawn had a chance to share her side of the story, she revealed that the two other members were meeting behind her back and recording songs without notifying her. Aubrey had walked in on them in the studio to their surprise where things eventually lead to a punch in the back of the head.
Dawn tweeted to the fans, “Extremely sorry for the fans. You don’t deserve this. You’re worth more.”
Will Danity Kane survive this? Or are they done for good?
