Now that the summer blockbusters are winding down, Hollywood is getting ready to wow audiences with a new lineup of movies heading to theaters this fall and winter. Included in the mix will be Samuel L. Jackson taking on King Kong and Taraji P. Henson heading to the moon. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the big movies coming soon to a theater near you in TRN’s First Reel Look.
How these Black Women Helped Put Man on the Moon in “Hidden Figures “ Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae star in this much talked about film about Black women who were the brains behind the scene as part of the American space program. The movie focuses on the space program in the 1960’s and three women who had to deal with both race and gender issues . CinemaBlend describes the film as taking ” a much lighter tone” as opposed to a heavy, dramatically dark handling of the subject matter. “Hidden Figures” won’t hit theaters until January 2017, but until then, here’s your First Reel Look.
Samuel L. Jackson is Running for his Life in “Kong: Skull Island” Jackson has fought “Snakes on a Plane” and even battled the dark side in “Star Wars:Revenge of the Sith”, but let ‘s hope all of that got him in shape for his next big on screen battle with Kong. In the film, Jackson’s character is part of an expedition to Skull Island which finds shortly after landing there that they are not alone. Jackson’s character immediately senses that something is very wrong about the island. “Kong: Skull Island” is the eighth feature film about the legendary beast and the mere humans who try to tame him. Joining Jackson in the retelling of this version of King Kong will be John Goodman and Tom Hiddleston (“Thor”, “The Avengers”). “Kong:Skull Island” is headed for theaters in March 2017. Halle Berry Fights For Her Child’s Life in “Kidnap” Berry plays a loving, doting Mom who takes her son out for a day of fun at an amusement park and can only watch is as he snatched away by strangers. The movie is described as an action thriller that finds Berry’s character on the trail of the kidnappers. Here’s the official trailer for “Kidnap” which you can catch in theaters nationwide on December 2.
