JayZ’s Legal “Controversy” over Prince’s Music Prince’s Estate is suing JayZs Roc Nation for streaming the departed singer’s music without permission. The suit filed November 15 accuses JayZ’s Tidal streaming service of violating copyright laws and of “exploiting many copyrighted Prince works”. The suit cited as an example when Tidal added 15 albums to the service including Prince’s “The Black Album” and “Cyrstal Ball”. Prince’s estate says JayZ only had permission from Prince himself to stream last year’s “HitNRun album. JayZ claims Tidal has both “oral and written” permission. Prince died in April of this year after he was found unconscious in an elevator at his Paisley Park home. Paramedics say the “Purple Rain” singer had died six hours before they arrived. Prince is said to have accidentally overdosed on prescription opiods that he was taking for hip pain. In the case surrounding his death, investigators are still combing through computer files and records to see if doctors and pharmacies committed in any wrongdoing in supplying Prince with prescription meds.
The Sexiest Man Alive Some people say Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one sexy man…but People magazine takes it one step further. The former wrestler went from taking out his opponent’s with “The People’s Elbow” to being People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2016. The title is just the latest achievement for the actor whose big screen appeal just keeps getting bigger…he’s had successful runs with movies like the “Fast & Furious” franchise, “Central Intelligence” with costar Kevin Hart and will star in next year’s reboot of “Jumanji” and “Fast & Furious 8”. So you can see how the highest paid actor in the world according to Forbes which says The Rock earned almost $65 million last year might be worthy of the title. And that 6’5″ frame, bulging muscles, winning smile and humble demeanor didn’t hurt either. The Rock reminded fans on Twitter that he started in this business with $7 to his name and of all the mistakes he made along the way while growing up as a kid in Hawaii: “I was doing a lot of things that I shouldn’t have. I was getting arrested multiple times, but at the same time, always very respectful to my teachers and elders. I was unsure of who I was and who I wanted to be,” Congratulations to Johnson who wears the title of “Sexiest Man Alive” well.
Good Advice Gone Bad Gabrielle Union recently opened up during an interview with The Grio to give single ladies some advice about finding their true love. The “Almost Christmas” star who is married to hubby #2-NBA’s Dwayne Wade- advised women to stop searching for their ideal type: ““If your type hasn’t worked for you in 40 years, guess what? Your type sucks! Time to change your type. Think outside the box! Maybe they’re younger, maybe they’re older, maybe they don’t come in the shape or size or color that you assume they would come in.” The advice seemed harmless enough, but some social media chatter blasted Union for it. Union first went after the site that she accused of only using “snippets of an interview…to incite hostility against me” And Union added, “at least let the ppl know about WHOLE interview.” Finally, Union posted on Twitter, “I NEVER offer “advice” without explaining my whole truth. I’m not that chick. Love & Light good people. Union seems to be offering sincere advice from the lessons she learned about love, but some may have simply resisted Union for flaunting her current wedded bliss in their faces.
