A Killer Ending Coming Emmy Award Winner Viola Davis’ hit show is approaching its sixth season and with it comes the announcement that this will be the final season. Speculation about the show’s conclusion began swirling after Shonda Rhimes other big ABC drama “Scandal” reached its final season two years ago. Davis stars as law professor Annalise Keating who lessons on the law and murder spills from the classroom into her life and five of her chosen students. Davis delivers a heart-pounding performance each week and made us not see a Black woman, but simply a woman fighting for her freedom and those she loved. ABC released a statement saying “Viola Davis made television history with her unforgettable portrayal of iconic female antihero Annalise Keating. I am eternally grateful to her, Pete Nowalk and Shondaland for creating and bringing to life such a smart, sophisticated and groundbreaking series that has long been an integral part of Thursday nights on ABC.” Though the end is near, don’t expect HTGAWM to go out with a whimper. ABC’s pre-season write up promises season six will be “…deadlier than ever.” HTGAWM returns to ABC on September 26th for its final season.
Storm Reid Joins the Squad Actress Storm Reid may be signing on for the team in the next installment of DC Comics “Suicide Squad.” Entertainment news site Shadowandact says the child star is in “major talks” for the role. The site also says, “ It is said that she would play the daughter of Idris Elba’s character. Elba was first said to be replacing Will Smith’s character from the first film, Deadshot, but it was later revealed that he would be a new character instead. Given that we don’t know who Elba’s character is, we have no inkling of who Reid would be playing in the film.” Reid wowed audiences in Ava DuVernay’s “A Wrinkle in Time” and more recently in HBO’s “Euphoria” and in the Netflix series “When They See Us”. Given all that confusion with losing Smith as Deadshot, gaining Elba as Deadshot then not Deadshot, nailing down the film’s plot has been pretty hard to determine as well. “Suicide Squad” is being directed by James Gunn (“Guardians of the Galaxy” 1 and 2) and will also star Viola Davis along with Elba and Reid.
